Purchasing Officer

About the role: 

Reporting through to the Procurement Manager, you will play an integral role in the running of the business through purchasing of general parts, requisites, consumables, vehicles and equipment as needed. This may range from agricultural machinery, processing equipment parts to office and farm supplies. This organisation has everything from livestock to robots and no two days will be the same. Your responsibilities will include: 
  • Utilising the Warehouse Management System to raise purchase orders;  
  • Liaising with a wide range of people both internally and externally, including suppliers and department managers; 
  • Sourcing information from departments for their specific needs; 
  • Communicating, processing and managing quotes and orders and maintaining accurate documentation; 
  • Updating and maintaining critical stock levels and managing inventory; 
  • Ensuring effective administration of all procurement processes and compliance with all procurement policies; 
  • Preparing storage reports and conducting stocktakes; and 
  • Managing deliveries both incoming and outgoing, both internally and externally. 
About you: 

To be successful in the role, you will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate well. Previous experience within purchasing or procurement is highly regarded but not essential. You will be keen to learn the Warehouse Management System, have solid computer skills and exhibit time management and organisational skills. A certificate or diploma in supply chain management, logistics or business administration is desirable, but not essential. The successful candidate will also: 
  • Have proven experience in coordination of supply chain operations; 
  • Possess knowledge of contracts, invoicing and negotiation terms; and 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
